Hometown Hero Matthew Rascovich

Matthew Rascovich began his military career in 1995, enlisting in the U.S. Navy as an airman. Over the next five years, he served in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. His role focused on supporting Navy SEAL missions by delivering personnel and materials to bases and ships.

His dedication and performance earned him a promotion to Petty Officer Third Class. He was also awarded several honors, including the NATO Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Armed Services Medal. His service reflected his strong commitment to duty and country.

A New Purpose

After his honorable discharge, Matthew used the GI Bill to attend the University of Florida, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He also joined student veteran groups and worked to raise awareness of the challenges veterans face after service.

Motivated to do more, he went on to earn a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Maryland. While in grad school, he worked at the FDA, helping create a rapid-response program for foodborne illness outbreaks—making a real impact on public health.

Coming Home and Giving Back

After more than ten years of national service and education, Matthew returned to his hometown. He joined Volunteers of America, working for seven years to help homeless veterans find stable housing and rebuild their lives. Through this work, he found a new calling: helping veterans achieve the dream of homeownership.

Real Estate with a Mission

Matthew earned his real estate license and began helping veterans navigate the homebuying process. He educates clients on VA loan benefits, explains each step in simple terms, and ensures they understand the long-term value of owning a home.

Today, he offers full-service real estate support to buyers and sellers across North Central Florida. Whether working with veterans or first-time buyers, Matthew is focused on making homeownership possible and meaningful.

Still Serving the Community

Beyond real estate, Matthew continues to advocate for veterans. He serves on the Veterans Experience Board and the Public Policy Board, working to improve programs and support systems for those who have served.

We’re proud to recognize Matthew Rascovich as a true Hometown Hero—a veteran, public servant, and local leader whose dedication continues to impact lives every day.

Christine Rodriguez from our Orlando, FL office was honored to present Matthew with his award.
