Few stories embody resilience, faith, and lifelong service quite like that of Carlton Duck. From his years in the United States Air Force to his decades as a pastor and community leader, Carlton has consistently put others first—serving his country, his church, and his community with unwavering dedication.
Carlton Duck began his military journey in August 1969 when he was drafted into the United States Air Force. Over the course of 12 years of active-duty service, he served both stateside and overseas, including assignments at:

During his time in the military, Carlton endured unimaginable personal loss. While stationed overseas, he received the devastating news that his 14-month-old son had passed away suddenly. Despite this heartbreak, he returned to duty after the funeral and continued serving his country with strength and honor—a testament to his character and resilience.
After being honorably discharged, Carlton followed a higher calling—devoting his life to ministry. On July 16, 1989, he became the full-time pastor of Gethsemane Baptist Church, where he continues to serve to this day.
For more than three decades, Pastor Duck has been a pillar of faith, guidance, and compassion—impacting countless lives through his leadership and unwavering commitment to others.
Carlton’s service didn’t end with the military or the pulpit. His impact extends deeply into the community through a wide range of outreach efforts, including:

In 2022, Carlton faced one of the greatest challenges of his life. A severe blockage in his aorta led to major heart surgery, including quadruple bypass surgery and two valve replacements. His condition was critical—he spent 31 days in the cardiothoracic ICU, fighting for his life.
Due to complications, Carlton became a bilateral below-the-knee amputee.
What followed is nothing short of extraordinary.
Through determination, faith, and perseverance, he relearned how to stand and walk. Today, he lives independently—driving, preaching while standing in the pulpit, maintaining his home, and even mowing not only his own lawn but helping neighbors with theirs.
Despite ongoing challenges, including chronic phantom limb pain, Carlton continues to live a life rooted in service, faith, and purpose.
Carlton Duck’s story is one of courage, sacrifice, and unwavering faith. Whether serving his country, guiding his congregation, or uplifting those facing their own battles, he consistently puts others before himself.
