William Joseph Almond

William Joseph Almond grew up in LaVale, MD, and graduated from Allegany High School in 1999. After high school, he pursued his education at Allegany College of Maryland, where he studied Criminal Justice and Political Science. In August 2003, he made the decision to enlist in the United States Army. After completing basic training at Fort Knox, William was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, with A-Troop 1st Squadron 10th US Cavalry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division.

During his time in the Army, William Joseph Almond served two tours in Iraq between 2003 and 2006. His service was marked by bravery and dedication, earning him several awards, including three Commendation Medals. His most significant honor came when he was awarded the Purple Heart after being injured by shrapnel from an exploding IED during his deployment in Iraq. Despite the physical and emotional toll, he remained committed to his mission and to the soldiers around him.

After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, William returned to his studies in Political Science. He graduated from Frostburg State University in 2009, where he continued to demonstrate the same dedication that had characterized his military service.

Currently, William Joseph Almond serves as a Federal Correctional Officer at FCI Cumberland in Maryland. His work continues to reflect his commitment to serving his country and making a positive impact on his community. William lives in Ridgeley, WV, with his fiancée, Jennifer Pyles, and their golden retriever, Alcide. His story is one of resilience, courage, and an unwavering dedication to both his country and his community.
