Terry Ward

Terry Ward, a graduate of West Point in 1984, began his service as a border guard and scout on the East and West German border with the 1st Tank, 2nd Infantry Division from 1985 to 1988. His tactical proficiency and leadership skills were further sharpened when he served as a maintenance officer along the North and South Korean border from 1988 to 1989. During Operations Desert Storm and Desert Shield in 1990 and 1991, Ward was a tactical operations officer for a tank battalion, 4-64 Armor, 24th Infantry Division. His efforts during the campaign earned him a Bronze Star and recognition on national platforms such as The Today Show with Willard Scott and U.S. News & World Report. He continued to serve as a tank company commander at Fort Stewart, Georgia, in 1992, holding the rank of captain. After nearly a decade of distinguished service, Ward completed his active duty in 1993.

Following his military service, Ward seamlessly transitioned into the operations and engineering sectors. Drawing from his technical and leadership background, he led teams in manufacturing car parts, truck parts, and now operating room equipment. His career in these industries provided him with countless opportunities to mentor team members, helping guide them through various stages of their professional journeys. Ward’s dedication to excellence and growth has been a hallmark of his post-military career, demonstrating his ability to lead in both military and civilian arenas.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Terry Ward has been an active member of his community. He has volunteered with the Harrisonburg Soccer League for over a decade, serving as a coach, age group coordinator, and even president of the organization. His commitment to fostering youth development through sports has made a lasting impact on many young athletes. In addition, Ward is a member and past vice president of the Byrd Park Civic League and is involved with the Friends of Byrd Park, where he contributes his time and leadership skills to enhance community initiatives and neighborhood engagement.
