Samuel Cokley
Veteran Samuel Cokley served in the United States Air Force from 1976 to 1983. He was a Packing Specialist who spent time stationed in Korea, California, and Georgia. For his service, he was awarded an Overseas Campaign Award and several Marksmanship Awards. After leaving the military, Mr. Cokley worked in construction for many years before retiring due to his health resulting in 12 operations on his legs.
Today, Mr. Sam Cokley remains involved with the local community. He’s known for always being quick to jump in and help when needed and doing it with a huge smile on his face. Neighbors have affectionately labeled Mr. Cokley as “The Neighborhood Watch” because he consistently patrols his neighborhood, ensuring everyone is okay and everything is in order. In addition to supporting his community, Mr. Sam adores his growing family. He glows when talking of his three daughters, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild due later this month. He’s also one of the largest supporters of his nephew’s local barbecue sauce business called SUM MO.
His family, friends, and neighbors describe him as loyal, passionate, and immensely protective over the ones he cares for. In a world where acts of kindness often go unnoticed, Mr. Cokley stands out as a beacon known for his warm smile and compassion for others.
Branch Partner, Russell Smith and Business Development Specialist, Ashlee Roby from our Whiteville, NC branch were honored to present Mr. Samuel with his award.
