Russell Thompson fulfilled his dream of military service by joining the Navy Reserves on March 27, 2003. As an E3 Utilityman in the Seabees, he demonstrated his skills and dedication from the start. After completing boot camp, he earned a promotion to E4 and prepared for his first deployment. On March 5, 2005, Russell deployed to Iraq, ready to serve with determination and pride.
During his time in Iraq, Russell advanced to E5 and worked alongside the Marines. His exceptional efforts earned several honors, including a Letter of Commendation, the Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist qualification, and the Iraq Campaign Medal. His bravery was further recognized with the Global War on Terrorism Medal. These accolades reflected his unwavering commitment to duty and excellence.
Upon returning home, Russell took on new challenges. He attended Career Counselor School and Journeyman Instructor School, sharpening his expertise. In 2009, he planned to return to Iraq but chose to remain stateside to support his wife during a difficult pregnancy. His decision highlighted his devotion to family without compromising his dedication to service.
In 2012, Russell deployed to Afghanistan, where his contributions were recognized with several prestigious awards. He earned the Army Achievement Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War Expeditionary Medal, and the ISFA NATO Medal. After 16 years of distinguished service, Russell retired as an E5, leaving a lasting legacy of resilience and leadership.

Before joining the Navy, Russell worked in HVAC. He applied these skills during his military service and continued excelling in the field after retiring. His expertise, honed in the Seabees, remains a cornerstone of his professional success.
Russell remains deeply involved in his community. As a member of Northview Church, led by Pastor Mike Faulkner, and an active participant in BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association International), he exemplifies service beyond the military. He also contributes to PIBM and Creciendo Juntos en Cristo, led by Jorge Rodriguez, offering discounted HVAC services to support these organizations.
As a father of seven, Russell prioritizes his family above all. One of his children has followed his example by joining the Navy, a testament to his inspiring legacy. Russell’s love and dedication to his family mirror the values that defined his military career.
