Veteran Michael McKenzie, Sr. attained a decorated and accomplished career with the US Army. He now uses the skills and aptitudes that he learned to run his own company and serve as a prominent leader for his local ministry in the Charlotte, NC area.

Michael began his career in the US Army out of family tradition. He wanted to follow in the footsteps of his family members and was recruited by his cousin who had served and reached the rank of Sergeant First Class.

Michael graduated from Myers Park High School located in Charlotte, NC in 1994, and began his very first deployment in 1996. He served on numerous missions throughout his journey with the US Army including Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Freedom’s Sentinel in addition to deployments in Bosnia, Herzegovina, and Afghanistan.

During his 22 years of service, Michael received an array of awards including: an Afghanistan Campaign Medal which is conferred for service during Operation Enduring Freedom; two Bronze Stars which are awarded for heroic achievement or service, or meritorious achievement or service; the Army Good Conduct Medal which is bestowed for three consecutive years of honorable and faithful service, as well as six other awards and recognitions.

After leaving the Army in 2016, Michael began his civilian career and went back to school to further his education. He had completed his bachelor’s degree during his service and then earned his MBA in 2018 from Northcentral University. Michael did not stop there. He went a step further and achieved his Ph.D. from Kingdom Truth University. Professionally, he started as a Government Contractor due to the skillset he developed during his service. Soon thereafter, Michael and his wife Carolyn-Russ McKenzie began their own company McKenzie Consulting Group, LLC which provides consulting, advisement, real estate business planning and project management services to businesses.

Outside of his professional and educational achievements, Michael takes pride in serving his local community through True Kingdom Global Ministries. He serves alongside his wife as senior leaders in the ministry. The ministry gives back to the Charlotte community by providing necessities like food, clothing, shoes, etc. to those in need and veterans. In addition, they also offer free mentorship to students and teachers in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System.
