Veteran Micah Chelf grew up in a military family, where values of giving and supporting others were deeply instilled in him. These principles inspired Micah to enlist in the Army National Guard at the age of 17. Training as an infantryman at Fort Benning, GA, Micah’s military journey faced an early setback due to a knee injury that required surgery. Despite this challenge, his perseverance led him to an incredible opportunity in 2017 when he was activated to assist in the aftermath of the hurricane disaster in the Virgin Islands.
While serving in the Virgin Islands, Micah earned the Virgin Islands Emergency Service Ribbon and the Humanitarian Service Medal, recognizing his impactful efforts during a time of crisis.
Micah’s passion for helping others extended beyond his military service. He began his non-profit work with XZone, a Chesterfield, VA-based ministry agency dedicated to mentoring middle and high school students. At XZone, Micah managed sports operations and founded the organization’s marketing department, broadening its reach and mission.
Following his time at XZone, Micah joined Tech For Troops (T4T), a non-profit that repurposes donated computers to equip veterans with essential IT skills. As the Director of Operations and later Sustainability Platform Leader, Micah helped veterans prepare for modern workplaces while pursuing his bachelor’s degree at ECPI University.
Currently, Micah works for Talking Monkey Media, a marketing agency in Midlothian, VA. The agency specializes in supporting local non-profits by enhancing their digital presence at minimal or no cost. Micah’s role allows him to empower non-profits, enabling them to expand their reach and impact in an increasingly digital world.
Micah remains deeply committed to his community. In his free time, he actively supports veterans and engages in efforts to assist Afghan refugees. His future aspirations include growing Talking Monkey Media’s influence and continuing to support non-profits, whether well-established or newly founded.
“I’m passionate about serving others and excited to help non-profits reach more people and make a difference. It’s my way of giving back and staying connected to what matters most,” Micah shares.
