Inspired by his high school ROTC program, US Army Veteran Matthew Oermann recently returned from Iraq and has been celebrating his return with his new daughter that was born during his deployment. During his time in the Army, he earned the rank of first lieutenant.
Matthew was a proud member of his high school ROTC program and joined the military after he graduated. Matthew enlisted to improve himself and to help his future career. In 2017 he graduated from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA with a degree in applied economic management.
In December 2021, Matthew was deployed to Iraq with the counter rocket, artillery, and mortar group. He returned home in November 2022 and has been enjoying home with the company of his new daughter that was born while he was overseas. His new daughter, Palmer, received the flag that was flown during Operation Inherent Resolve.

Currently, Matthew works in the technology industry with Verizon.
