Kris Gholson

Kris Gholson is a retired military veteran and software entrepreneur who has demonstrated his commitment to discipline, leadership, and teamwork throughout his career. Kris attended the Coast Guard Academy from 1990 to 1994, where he learned the importance of service and discipline. After graduation, he served on the USCGC Madrona in Charleston, SC, from 1994 to 1996, followed by a posting at the Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington DC until 1999. Kris was then recalled to active duty in 2001 and served at the Marine Safety Office in Houston, TX until 2007.

Kris’s dedication to service continued after his military career, as he channeled his passion and commitment to building a strong community through Rugby. Kris and his wife share a love for Rugby, and they met during a game, celebrating 26 years of marriage recently. After settling in Charleston, Kris founded the Wando Rugby Club and served as its President for two years, where he tirelessly grew the organization and expanded both the boys’ and girls’ teams.

Under his leadership, the girls’ team made it to the National Championship in the past year. Additionally, Kris and his wife host beach Rugby every Sunday during the summer on Sullivans Island, creating a positive environment for young athletes in the community. Their unique dynamic of playing hard on the field and hosting the opposing team for a meal after each game has created a sense of unity and camaraderie among the Rugby Family. Kris’s commitment and efforts have made a significant difference in the lives of many young adults, demonstrating the importance of teamwork, leadership, and community building both on and off the field.
