GETTING

Getting Licensed
Step #1: You will first need to sign up and take the required hours of PE education as well as additional state-specific hours, if applicable. Some states require your PE hours to have been taken with in the last 10 years, while others as little as the last 3 years from the date of applying for the license.
Step #2: Once that is completed and reported to NMLS, you will be able to sign up to take the test.
Step #3: Once you pass the test and it’s recorded with NMLS, you can then apply for your state license (this is when you’ll setup fingerprint appointment, Federal BG check and credit check). If you don’t pass the first time, you can take it again in 30 days. This is also where ALCOVA comes into the picture to sponsor your license for that state.
Step #4: Once all of the above is completed, the state will review your file and generally they approve within 2-4 weeks.
