U.S. Air Force Veteran: Dennis Tait’s Military Service

Dennis Tait is a retired U.S. Air Force Sergeant who served from 1964 to 1968. His time in the Air Force instilled a sense of duty and discipline that he carried throughout his life. Career at Export Leaf Tobacco Company

After retiring from the Air Force, Dennis spent over 30 years working at Export Leaf Tobacco Company. He began in the Green Leaf Accounting Department, showcasing his keen attention to detail. Later, Dennis transitioned to Data Processing, and eventually became the Senior Supervisor of Computer Operations. His leadership was instrumental in the company’s operations, and his work left a lasting impression on his colleagues and the business itself.

Dennis Tait: A Dedicated Community Volunteer

Upon his retirement, Dennis relocated to Lake Waccamaw, where he quickly became involved in the community. He volunteered with multiple local organizations, including the Lions Club and the Lake Waccamaw Food Ministry. His dedication to helping others didn’t stop there; Dennis joined the Hallsboro Baptist Men’s group, where he worked on the Rails & Ramps program, building handicap ramps for individuals in need. His hands-on approach to service made a significant difference in his community.

Dennis’s volunteer work also includes his long-term involvement with the Lake Waccamaw Depot Museum. Since 2019, he has been volunteering his time and skills to improve the museum’s landscaping. His efforts have transformed the museum’s exterior, and the museum will be featured in an upcoming garden tour. Karen Gore, the museum curator, praises Dennis for his invaluable contributions.
