At ALCOVA Mortgage, our Hometown Heroes program celebrates individuals who selflessly serve our country and communities. Today, we proudly honor Anthony Saldo, a U.S. military veteran whose dedication perfectly reflects the spirit of this program.
Anthony Saldo joined the United States military in 1985, motivated by a strong desire to serve his country. He reached the rank of E-3 and was stationed in San Diego, where he served aboard the USS CG-33, a guided missile destroyer.
From the very beginning, Anthony demonstrated discipline and commitment. For example, he ranked among the Top 10% of performers in boot camp, showcasing his work ethic early in his military career. Later, in 2009, he earned Disabled Veteran (D.V.) status, highlighting the sacrifices he made while serving.
After his honorable discharge, Anthony continued to serve others through his civilian career. Specifically, he worked for the State of New York as a Power Plant Mechanic A, a demanding role responsible for maintaining critical infrastructure.
During his eight years in this position, Anthony applied the technical skills, reliability, and discipline he developed in the military. As a result, he helped ensure that communities had access to the essential power systems they rely on every day.
Anthony Saldo’s story is one of dedication, perseverance, and service—both in uniform and beyond. By combining his military accomplishments with his professional contributions and personal sacrifices, he exemplifies what it means to be a Hometown Hero.
Connor Beckman from our Myrtle Beach, SC branch was proud to present Anthony with his award.
