Andrew Smith served as an infantryman with the U.S. Army’s prestigious 10th Mountain Division from 2002 to 2005. His service took a life-altering turn on September 20, 2003, when he was struck by shrapnel from an IED while deployed. Despite the challenges he faced, including recovery from his injuries and his time in Fallujah, Andrew’s experiences shaped him into a leader who has since impacted thousands of veterans and leaders across the nation.
Following his military service, Andrew transitioned into civilian life by serving as the youth pastor at Auburn Baptist in Riner, VA. His leadership skills and passion for serving others led him to his current role as the Director of Rooftop India, a ministry of Rooftop Missions. Through his work, Andrew helps oversee a network of more than 140 churches in southern India. This vast network enables him to train and empower leaders who, in turn, have an immediate and lasting impact on thousands of lives.
One of the key initiatives of Rooftop India is their orphanage, which plays a vital role in meeting the immediate needs of orphaned boys and girls. The orphanage also provides these children with the opportunity to grow into future leaders, preparing them to make a positive difference in their communities. Andrew’s dedication to service continues to shape the lives of many, both in India and beyond.
From his time in the military to his current work in India, Andrew Smith’s commitment to service and leadership has touched countless lives. His journey is a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the profound impact that one person can have on others.
