Anthony Davis Hits the Dance Floor For Charity!
Branch Partner Anthony Davis in our Jacksonville branch recently put on his dancing shoes to benefit the Beaches Fine Arts Series and their annual First Coast Dancing with the Stars fundraising event.
With a mission to enrich communities by sharing the transforming power of music and art, Beaches Fine Arts Series (BFAS) is a 501c-3 non-profit organization that has provided free concerts and free educational outreach programs to all citizens of North Florida for over forty-seven years.
Since 2013, BFAS has been hosting its First Coast Dancing with the Stars gala, one of its most popular and fun fundraisers. “Stars” are chosen from throughout the greater Jacksonville metropolitan area and then paired with the area’s most talented dance professionals. Together they create a dance routine and compete at the gala to win the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy. In addition to busting a move on the dance floor, each star’s fundraising efforts combine to a final score in pursuit of the grand trophy.
For Anthony Davis, the experience has been one to remember. Not only did he raise $10,134 for BFAS, his dance routine was personally special as he and his partner danced to “Strangers In The Night,” written by his great uncle. “It was a great experience getting out of my comfort zone and learning something new,” said Anthony. “I had a great dance teacher/partner that created the dance to a song that was personal to my family. After remembering where we started and where we finished, it was an amazing accomplishment – and all for a great cause!”
