Jason Frazier

For Jason Frazier, service has always been about helping others. It has shaped both his career and the way he gives back to his community.

Jason devoted nearly 20 years to military service. He began his career as an infantryman in the United States Marine Corps. He later continued his service with the Virginia Army National Guard.

Jason joined the military because he wanted to challenge himself and serve something bigger than himself. He also valued the teamwork, commitment, and accountability that came with military life.

During his military career, Jason deployed to Iraq twice. He also served with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit. His assignments and training took him to Japan, South Korea, Kuwait, Qatar, and Kenya.

Jason eventually reached the rank of E-8. In that role, he had the opportunity to lead and mentor other service members. He also took on the responsibility of looking out for the people he served alongside.

His military career ended in a medical retirement after he was injured while serving in Kenya. Jason is now a 100% service-connected disabled veteran. Despite the sacrifices that came with his service, he remains proud of his time in the military and the people he served with.

Continuing a Life of Service

Jason continued serving others after leaving active-duty military service. He first worked overseas in Iraq as a civilian contractor. When he returned home, he wanted a career that offered the same sense of purpose and teamwork he found in the military.

That led him to the fire service.

For approximately 10 years, Jason has served the Charlottesville community as a firefighter and Advanced EMT with the City of Charlottesville. His work allows him to help people when they need it most.

For Jason, firefighting is another way to serve. He helps protect people, supports families during difficult moments, and works as part of a team his community can rely on.

Giving Back Through Youth Sports

Jason’s commitment to his community also extends beyond his military and fire-service careers. He has spent years coaching baseball and softball for young athletes.

He coached his daughter’s travel softball team and has assisted with other travel softball programs. Today, he helps coach his son’s T-ball team. He also spent time assisting with the Western Albemarle High School baseball program.

For Jason, coaching is another opportunity to serve and mentor. He works to teach young athletes about accountability, confidence, teamwork, and resilience.

He also encourages them to learn how to handle setbacks and respond when things don’t go their way. Those lessons can stay with them long after they leave the ballfield.

Honoring a Hometown Hero

Jason Frazier has spent much of his life serving others. From his nearly 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps and Virginia Army National Guard to his work as a Charlottesville firefighter and Advanced EMT, service remains at the heart of what he does.

His dedication also continues through his work with young athletes and his commitment to his local community.
